Alberta residents are able to provide input on how the province's nature is being conserved.
They are currently in the engagement portion of their nature strategy, which will allow those who live in Alberta a chance to provide a say on the way nature in Alberta is protected for years to come.
Albertan's wellbeing is dependent on how healthy the landscape is and the goods and services that nature provides the province.
It is estimated that Alberta's population will be over 7 million by the year 2050, making it so a long-term strategy is needed to help the province and economy keep growing while still keeping the benefits that nature provides for future generations.
With nature encompassing all parts of the natural world, it has shaped humans and the way we live.
Nature includes everything from plants to animals to landscapes, as well as the ecological processes and the benefits people receive from nature.
"Ecosystem services are essential to people living in Alberta to sustain a healthy and prosperous way of life, such as abundant clean air and water, fertile soil for farming, flood and erosion control, wildlife habitat, carbon dioxide absorption, and supplying the natural resources that are the foundation of our economy," the nature strategy engagement website states.
The survey is available online until November 7.
The input from the survey will help the government inform their nature strategy.
Once the nature strategy is complete, it will represent diverse interests in nature and help to foster a culture of shared responsibility of maintaining nature and the benefits it has.
