The Children's Hospital Foundation is putting the fun in fundraising with their 16th annual Ice Crystal Gala.

"It is a fun, family-friendly event and the only gala like this in the city because it's really about the kids," says Sara Shyiak, Manager of Marketing and Communications with the Children's Hospital Foundation.

This year's theme is Rhinestone Rodeo. Guests are invited to dress up as a cowboy and cowgirl in glitter, so to speak.

"We have a wonderful community of stellar donors, and sponsors who make this happen," says Shyiak. "It's going to be glitz, glam, and western. There will be special guests. There will be line-dancing and a beautiful BBQ dinner. There's also a candy barn."

The gala will take place on Nov. 9 starting at 4:00 p.m. at the Winnipeg Convention Centre. Tickets can be purchased here and all proceeds go back to help sick children in Manitoba.

"I love seeing all the families get dressed up. I love seeing the families enjoy themselves but also make a difference for other families."

Last year the gala raised over $830,000 to help sick kids.

"This year we're hoping to do the same. There are over 6,000 surgeries and procedures each year that happen at the Children's Hospital  [in Winnipeg] and we're raising money for that life-saving, critical equipment that can make all the difference in a family's world."

The Children's Hospital in the city is the only hospital specialized for kids in Manitoba. They also serve children in Northwestern Ontario and Nunavut.
