Trick-or-treaters will be hitting the streets all around Cochrane tonight to find the best candy in town.
Cochrane Fire Chief Shawn Polley says to watch out for kids everywhere tonight, even outside of crosswalks.
“Take extra care when you're driving around the communities, 30 kilometres an hour is the posted speed limit in communities, but of course, we would be looking for really much slower speeds, especially during the prime trick-or-treat hours.”
“Right after 5 till about 8, seems to be about the time that happens at my house.”
Cochrane RCMP will be out throughout the evening and mounties say choosing the right costume for your children can make a big difference.
“If you're wearing a mask and crossing the street, it’s recommended to just pull that mask up onto your head,” says RCMP Cst. Clayton Gelinas. “That way, you can at least see all around you and make sure there's no cars or anything of that sort.”
“Maybe put a little bit of reflective tape on darker costumes. It doesn't have to be all over, one on each leg and an arm then you are popping out on a crosswalk.”

After you get home, Cst. Gelinas says it’s important to inspect all the loot your child has collected.
“Check your kids' candy and make sure everything is okay.”
“If it's supposed to be vacuum sealed, make sure it's still tight and just looking for objects or someone trying to jam an object inside the candy.”
Looks like trick-or-treaters will be enjoying a calm night as far as the weather goes with no snow or high winds in the forecast.
