It’s budget time in Portage la Prairie, and Mayor Sharilyn Knox says it feels like they've just finished last year’s budget work, only to find themselves starting again for the upcoming year.

She notes that municipal budgeting involves several different areas and stresses the City’s desire to get feedback from residents on its priorities.

“We do have a strategic plan, so we’ve created a budget feedback link. It’s a very simple survey. I know people are probably surveyed-out, but this one will take you no time to fill out. All we want you to do is read through our listed priorities in the strategic direction and tell us which you think should be our top priority,” she says.

Mayor Knox adds there's also space for additional comments, noting that council is very welcoming of feedback, including thoughts on the new west-end development of Saskatchewan Avenue.

“We’d love everyone in the community to fill it out. We had a great response to our Community Safety Survey, so we’d love to see the same level of involvement here. You can find the link on our social media and website.”

She emphasizes that while they don’t want to overwhelm the community with surveys, they want to make sure residents have the opportunity to voice their concerns or share feedback on what they feel the City is prioritizing.
