Southcentre Mall will be home to a new one-of-a-kind entertainment and dining experience.

PowerPlay boasts a plethora of innovative technology experiences with an Immersive Gamebox, two Stirkezon baseball simulators, five Golfzon Social, bowling and arcade, 10 micro cinemasand more.

"We are slated for an end-of-November opening. We won't know an exact date I would say until the 10th to 15th (of November). We will make a solidified announcement at least two weeks prior due to the Cinemas that require advanced bookings for our guests," said Moe Farhat, managing partner at PowerPlay.

The venue has plans to add a speakeasy, rooftop patio, laser tag arena, and a Starbucks.

PowerPlay will be for all ages.

"It is an elevated look, we wanted to make sure that we were bringing something to the community that is world-class," Farhat added.

The Strikezon Baseball Simulator is a highlight and will allow people to play a full baseball game as they can pitch and hit a ball into the simulator.

As for the Immersive Gamebox, it will be the first one showcased in Canada.

"This is a substitute for that wherein virtual reality you are covering your eyes and going into an experience by yourself. Immersive Gamebox takes that away and has you competing with one another in a room that has three projectors on three walls. Your body is basically the control, you move around, the walls are touch screen, there are a number of different games that we would have as offerings, and you would be competing with your friends inside that space."

PowerPlay's immersive entertainment experience combines virtual reality sports with state-of-the-art viewing technology. The centerpiece is a stunning 100-foot LED display wrapping around their 16 bowling lanes, showcasing everything from Calgary Flames hockey to NFL games and UFC events. Multiple screens throughout the bar and venue ensure you never miss a moment of the action.

To put the venue's scale into perspective, Farhat noted the space could accommodate six NHL-sized rinks.

When discussing site selection, he explained that Southcentre Mall emerged as the ideal location after extensive market research. Its strategic position along Stoney Trail, combined with Calgary's evolving traffic patterns, made it exceptionally accessible for residents across the city.

PowerPlay is adding around 150 new jobs to the area and held a job fair on October 25 and 26.
