The Estevan Curling Club is gearing up for an exciting new season, thanks to the hard work of its dedicated volunteers and enthusiastic curlers. Club president Tyler McMillen shared that preparations have gone smoothly, with ice installation completed without any issues.

"This fall has been exciting, and Lawrence Hanson, our ice maker, and his crew of volunteers did a fantastic job getting the ice ready," he said.

The club is currently accepting registrations for all leagues, including afternoon curling sessions for shift workers and those looking for a daytime activity. “Afternoon curling is open to anyone who wants to join, and we welcome all levels of experience. It takes place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:00 to 3:00 PM,” McMillen explained.

Youth leagues are also a priority, with sessions available for kindergarteners up to Grade 5 on Sundays, sponsored by Co-op, and an additional Tuesday night youth league for older kids from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. "Our youth programs are crucial for building the future of curling. It’s wonderful to see kids getting involved and learning the sport."

The Estevan Curling Club offers various league formats, including the open and fun Six Pack League, which runs three sessions of six weeks each. "This league is designed to be flexible and fun. You can sign up for any of the three sessions or the full season, making it perfect for those with busy schedules," McMillen noted. Additionally, there’s a more competitive Thursday Open League that caters to different skill levels. “This league is for those who are looking for a bit more competition while still keeping it enjoyable."

He expressed optimism about the growth of the sport, noting that they are attracting new curlers and welcoming back returning members eager to sharpen their skills. “We’re starting to see some of our youth curlers move up to high school leagues, which is great for the future of the sport here,” he added.

As the club begins its first full week of curling, McMillen encourages community members to get involved. “We’re excited to kick things off and hope to see many new faces this season.”
