The Canadian Premier League (CPL) has released their list of finalists for the CPL Player's Player of the Year and three Cavalry FC players have made the list.
The Player's Player of the Year was introduced in 2022 while the Player of the Year award, which is a separate honour started in 2019.
Cavalry FC forwards Ali Musse and Tobias Warchewski (who scored the game-winning goal to advance to the Grand Final) as well as defender Daan Klomp were the names released as finalists.
Musse who is originally from Mogadishu, Somalia who played in 16 games during the regular season after missing 11 games due to a knee injury scored four goals and added another four assists this season. Musse took home the honours of CPL Players's Player of the Year last season and was a finalist for the 2023 Player of the Year.
Dortmund, Germany product, Warschewski was the other forward named as a finalist after competing in 24 games this season posting 12 goals and two assists.
Klomp who hails from Leiderdorp, Netherlands was also named as a finalist after producing six goals and an assist in 27 games. Klomp was awarded the other honour of Player of the Year last season.
The full list of awards that can be won by players include Golden Boot, Golden Glove, Player of the Year, Best Under 21 Canadian Player of the Year, Defender of the Year, and Player's Player of the Year.
Cavalry will have this weekend off but will be paying close attention to the game between Forge FC and Atlético Ottawa as they await to play the winner of the game in the Grand Finals on November 9 at ATCO Field.
