A local product leading the Saskatchewan Male U18 AAA Hockey League in points had his WHL rights traded to the Regina Pats on Thursday.

Eastend's Jace Egland was acquired by Regina from Wenatchee Wild for a 2026 eighth-round pick.

The 17-year-old forward has scored nine goals, 10 assists, and 19 points in seven games with Swift Current this season. He ranks tied for second in the league for both goals and assists while leading in points by three.

In three seasons with the Legionnaires, he's scored 56 goals, 48 assists, and 104 points in 95 regular-season games. Last season he was named to the Saskatchewan Male U18 AAA Hockey League's Second All-Star Team.

Egland was drafted by the Winnipeg Ice in 2022 before they moved in the sixth round.
