Winnipeg Blue Bombers running back Brady Oliveira is the West Division finalist for the CFL's Most Outstanding Player Award and Most Outstanding Canadian. Oliveira led the league in rushing yards (1,353) for the second year in a row becoming the first player to accomplish the feat since Andrew Harris from 2017-2019. He also led the CFL in yards from scrimmage (1,829). Hamilton Tiger-Cats quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell and Montreal Alouettes defensive lineman Isaac Adeyemi-Berglund are the East Division finalists for Most Outstanding Player and Most Outstanding Canadian. Oliveira along with receiver Nic Demski, offensive linemen Stanley Bryant & Liam Dobson, defensive end Willie Jefferson, cornerback Tyrell Ford and halfback Deatrick Nichols were named to the West Division All-CFL team.
The Killarney Shamrocks host the Hartney Blues in the lone Tiger Hills Hockey League game Friday night. The Shamrocks won their season opener 4-1 over the Bombers in Minnedosa last Saturday. The Blues home opener against the Neepawa Farmers scheduled for this past Sunday was postponed due to ice plant issues at the Hartney Arena. Tonight's Blues vs Shamrocks game will be broadcast on CJRB Radio 1220 with Tanner Milliken, and it begins with the opening face-off at 8 p.m.
The Winnipeg Jets wrap up their two-game road trip tonight when they meet the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Jets are coming off a 6-2 victory over the Red Wings in Detroit on Wednesday. Winnipeg has won 9 of its first 10 games.
Canada’s Team Brad Gushue lost 8-4 to Japan’s Team Shinya Abe in the men's semifinals at the 2024 Pan Continental Curling Championships in Lacombe, Alberta. Gushue, vice-skip Mark Nichols, second Brendan Bottcher and lead Geoff Walker will play Team John Shuster of the United States in the bronze medal game. China’s Team Xiaoming Xu defeated Shuster 7-4 to earn its ticket to the gold medal game. Canada’s Team Rachel Homan will play its semifinal game against China’s Team Rui Wang today at 10 a.m.
