A man from Haywood left a traffic stop without his car and more than $700 poorer after deciding to disregard the posted speed limit.

According to an RCMP weekly press report, just after 11 a.m. on October 26, a Treherne RCMP officer saw a vehicle moving 123 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on Highway #2 in the Rural Municipality of Norfolk Treherne. The officer then pulled over the driver for a traffic stop.

The 23-year-old man from Haywood was asked to provide a breath sample, which the roadside screening device showed a "warning" result. The driver was issued an Immediate Roadside Driving Prohibition.

The driver also lost his licence for 72 hours, his vehicle was towed and impounded for a minimum of three days, and he will pay an administrative penalty of $400. He also received a speeding ticket for $351.
