After a seventh consecutive win on Friday night, the Portage Terriers will take on the Winkler Flyers in a matinee matchup on Sunday afternoon, November 3 at 3:30 p.m.
Winkler boasts a 10-5-0-0 record, and saw two players come away with league-wide player of the month awards, with Will Brophy taking home the Safe Work Manitoba Defenseman of the Month, and Liam Ernst winning the Original 16 Goaltender of the Month.
Portage, however, countered with a pair of award winners themselves. Cam Bullinger was named the RBC Player of the Month, and netminder Mitchell Kathler won theĀ Chevrolet Rookie of the Month, as announced by the MJHL in the awards article.
Winkler has won the first two contests this year, with the Portage penalty kill stopping a paltry 7 of their 13 times shorthanded. The powerplay similarly struggled with goals on 3 of 13 chances. But with those areas much improved since those early-season games, we could see a much closer game at Stride Place.
