The Boissevain Border Kings, Melita Bisons, Rivers Jets and Neepawa Farmers were winners in the Tiger Hills Hockey League Saturday night. Ryan Patterson, Andrew Albrecht, and Carter Cowlthorp scored two goals each as the Border Kings defeated the Carberry Plainsmen 9-1. Ryan Crepeele had two goals and an assist as the Bisons beat the Deloraine Royals 5-2. Dylan Thiessen had a hat trick and Riley Shamray had a five-point night with a goal and four helpers as the Jets downed the Souris Elks 13-3. Kyle McDonald, Bret Levandoski and Dillon Birch scored third period goals and the Farmers beat the MacGregor Wild 4-1.


In the Westman High School Hockey League – the Dauphin Clippers scored five goals in each period and beat Boissevain/Deloraine/Waskada/Pierson 15-0. Chase Glover made 15 saves in recording the shutout. Shane Ritchie, Dexen Routledge and Jaden Browning Lozinski scored two goals each as the Virden Golden Bears beat the Birtle/Shoal Lake/Rossburn/Birdtail Falcons 8-1. Kaleb Friesen scored the shootout winner as the Killarney/Wawanesa Raiders shaded Hamiota/Rivers/Elton/Strathclair 4-3. Vincent Massey TWO downed the Major Pratt Trojans 8-4. Mason Twordik had a hat trick for Massey.


Team Manitoba will play its preliminary round opener today (5 p.m.) against British Columbia at the 2024 National Women’s U18 Hockey Championship in Quispamsis, New Brunswick. Westman Wildcats forward Paige Crossley of Brandon is on Team Manitoba’s roster.


Carson Bjarnason made 33 saves and the Brandon Wheat Kings shutdown the Medicine Hat Tigers 3-0 at Westoba Place. Caleb Hadland scored 3:14 into the first period and Quinn Mantei and Dominik Petr added empty net goals late in the third.


The Manitoba Moose lost 4-1 to the Milwaukee Admirals at Canada Life Centre. Henri Nikkanen had the lone goal for the Moose.


Canada’s Rachel Homan won gold at the 2024 Pan Continental Curling Championships in Lacombe, Alberta. Homan, vice-skip Tracy Fleury, second Emma Miskew and lead Sarah Wilkes defeated Eunji Gim of South Korea 6-5 in the women’s gold medal game. Xiaoming Xu of China downed Shinya Abe of Japan 6-4 in the men’s gold medal game.
