Carstar Okotoks Bisons forward Sam Callahan continues to be a problem for teams around the HJHL, as he added two assists in the 5-1 win over the High River Flyers tonight (Nov. 2) at the Murray Arena.

It was the second meeting of the 2024-2025 HJHL season between the Foothills rivals, with the Herd now holding a 2-0 series lead over High River.

Okotoks was coming in hot with a 15-1 win over the Three Hills Thrashers the night previous, where the Flyers headed into tonight's game with only 10 minutes played in their game last night against the Rocky Rams after going up 1-0 early and having the game stopped due to the glass along the boards coming loose.

Kaiden Fulton made the start for the Flyers and was peppered with shots, making 49 saves on the night. Dylan Walker was the starting goalie for the Bisons and made 19 stops for the win.

The Flyers opened the scoring just over five minutes into the game with a powerplay goal from Ethan Miller, Parker Gamble, and Eastan Robert picked up the helpers on the goal.

Bisons answered back with a goal from former Flyer McCallum Bakken under two minutes later. Assistant captain Caden Scott picked up his sixth assist in two games, with Callahan adding his seventh point in two games with the secondary assist.

Okotoks captain Jake Snashall grabbed his fourth goal of the season and third goal in two games before the end of the first period. Assistant captain Easton Dean and Zephyr Laplante picked up a point each on the Snashall marker.

Seamus Garagan added a goal of his own for his third point in two games since returning to the Herd last night; he would get help from two former Flyer players, Joel Burrows and Brandon Jarman, who picked up the assists. Dean grabbed his third goal over the weekend, with Laplante getting his second point on the night on the primary assist and Avery Greig adding the secondary helper.

High River will play two games at the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex next week, with the Cannex Cochrane Generals meeting the Flyers both Thursday and Friday.

The Herd will host the Medicine Hat Cubs at Murray Arena on Friday for the third meeting between the two teams and then head to Strathmore for a game against the Agra Risk Wheatland Kings on Saturday.
