It was a weekend of road trips for many Weyburn hockey teams, with three teams hitting the highway for games.  

U18 Wings fall to Vics despite goals from five different players

The U18 AA John Hulbert Construction Wings played just one game on the weekend and were at home for the game against the Regina Vics. The Vics would come out firing and would run up an 11-5 victory over Weyburn.  

The Wings had goals from Rhett Weichel, Rylan Ohnander, Brody Morrice, Connor McIndoe and Evan Duke in the loss. They are back in action Tuesday night when they head to Regina to take on the Capitals.  

U18 AA Gold Wings shut out by Wildcats despite strong effort

The U18 AA Apex Gold Wings were at home at the Harry O Memorial Arena in Midale Sunday afternoon against the Warman Wildcats. The Gold Wings would control the play for the most part, with four power plays and putting 41 shots on goal. The Wildcats, however, would score the lone goal of the game, winning 1-0.  

The U18 AA Gold Wings will be back in action Friday when they open up a road trip in Melfort against the North East Aces.  

Sjodin, Rutledge, Missal, and Hemphill lead U16 AA Wings to victory

The U16 AA Agriterra Wings were on home ice at Crescent Point Place Sunday afternoon, entertaining the Bridge City Blues out of Saskatoon. The Wings would take the lead early, and held on for a 4-2 victory.  

Weyburn would see four different players score. Maksim Sjodin, Ethan Rutledge, Nate Missal and Andrew Hemphill all tallied for Weyburn. Sjodin and Hemphill scored on the power play.  

The U16 AA Wings will take to the road for their next game, travelling to Moose Jaw to play the Warriors on Friday.  

U15 AA Wings split weekend series, suffer tough loss to Stars

The U15 AA Annugas Wings embarked on a three-day, three-game road trip this weekend, starting things off in Saskatoon Friday night.  

Friday’s game would see the Wings outshoot the Saskatoon Outlaws, but the Outlaws would outscore the visitors, skating to a 5-1 win. The lone goal for Weyburn came from the stick of Easton Spagrud.  

Saturday, the Wings would take their frustrations from Friday night’s loss out on the West Central Wheat Kings. Putting 60 shots on goal they would come away with an 8-1 victory. Ayden Warren had four goals in the victory, with Reg Huebner tallying twice as well. Cohen Williams and Levi Lillejord also scored in the win.  

The road trip ended on Sunday in Battleford against the North West Stars. The Stars would be the ones to score almost at will though as they won 8-1. The lone goal for the Wings was scored by Kobe Deck.  

The U15 AA Wings are now off from league play until November 22nd when they will host the Estevan Bruins at Crescent Point Place.  

U15 AA Gold Wings face challenges on the road

The U15 AA Whitecap Gold Wings were on the road as well, playing three games in three days. They started their road trip in Kindersley Friday night against the Western Prairie Thunder.  

The Thunder would come out firing, taking advantage of the bus legs of their opponent, and went on to a 7-2 victory. The Gold Wings' goals came from Avryelle Molnar and Olivia Von Sprecken.  

Saturday the Gold Wings travelled to Battleford to take on the Northwest Sharks. The Sharks would take the lead late in the second period and didn’t look back as they went on to a 7-2 victory. Lexi Bauman had both goals for the Gold Wings in the loss.  

The road trip wrapped up Sunday afternoon in Saskatoon with a game against the Comet Chargers. The Chargers had an early lead and held on to win 3-2. Chelsea Madsen and Jozee Weichel had the goals for the Gold Wings in the loss. 

The next game for the Gold Wings will be November 16th, when they host the Regina Rebels White squad at Crescent Point Place.  

U13 AA Wings earn a tie, suffer two losses on the weekend

The U13 AA Youngfellow Wings were at home for three games this weekend.  

The first game of the weekend was Friday, with the Regina Mustangs in town. The Mustangs would escape Weyburn with a 4-3 win. The goals for the Wings came from Jack Williams, Topher Wilkinson, and Ethan Deck.  

Saturday, the Lumsden Lions came to town. They would run away with the game in the third period, picking up an 8-0 victory.  

Sunday, the Wings played the Moose Jaw Warriors. The two teams would be evenly matched on the scoreboard with the final score being a 3-3 draw. Everett Strass scored twice, with the other goal from Preston Walter.  

The next game for the U13 AA Wings will be on November 20th, when they visit the Regina Blues.  

U13 AA Gold Wings sweep Wildcats in Swift Current

The U13 AA Young Fellows Gold Wings were on the road this past weekend, heading to Swift Current for a pair of games. They would come back from the trip with a pair of big wins. 

Saturday afternoon, the Gold Wings scored five goals in the first period en route to a 9-3 victory. Ayla Spagrud and Jorja Rutledge had two goals each. Johanna Holman, Lexi Cote, Olivia Corbett, Sakoda Seitz and Hunter Sands also scored in the victory. 

The two squads met again Sunday afternoon, and again it would be the Gold Wings coming away with the victory, this time by a 6-2 final. 

Spagrud had two more goals in the win, with Sands also tallying twice. The other goal scorers were Abigail Weger and Holman. 

The next game for the U13 AA Gold Wings will be Sunday when they head to Lumsden to play the Lynx.
