The Canadian Premier League named two more finalists for their year-end awards.

Cavalry FC Head Coach and GM Tommy Wheeldon Jr. have been nominated for Coach of the Year and Tobias Warschewski has been named as a finalist for the CPL Player of the Year honours.

Wheeldon Jr. won the Coach of the Year last season and has been nominated for the award four times for his effective coaching style. Cavalry had the best road record with 25 points acquired while posting a 7-4-3 record.

Defence was a strong suit for Wheeldon Jr's team as they never allowed more than two goals in a game and outscored their opponents 39-27.

"The winner of the Coach of the Year award will receive a unique piece of Inuit soapstone art, conceptualized by artist Palaya Qiatsuq and carved by Ruben Komangapik. The Owl statue symbolizes wisdom, guidance, and knowledge, while its heightened vision gives it the ability to see what others cannot. The Coach of the Year requires similar attributes to earn the honour," Cavalry FC said in a release.

Warschewski scored the lone goal in the playoff game against Forge FC and was also named a finalist for the CPL Player of the Year, not to be confused with the CPL Players' Player of the Year, which he is also a finalist.

The nomination comes after his league-leading 13 goals and 67 shots on goal. Warschewski also had the most aerial duels won by a forward with 57 and came in fourth if you include defenders.

"The winner of the Player of the Year award will receive a unique piece of Inuit soapstone art, conceived by artist Pitseolak Qimirpik and carved by Ruben Komangapik. The Nikisuittuq statue is a type of inukshuk, a stone landmark built to lead a traveller home. Its top stone points toward the North Star, making it an important landmark in navigation," Cavalry FC explained in a release.

The award winners will be announced on Thursday (Nov. 7) in Calgary.

Forge FC managed to get by Atlético Ottawa this past Saturday (Nov. 2) and will face Cavalry FC in the Grand Final at ATCO Field on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
