The Town of Olds has announced the sale of its current administrative office building to Westview Co-op, a decision formalized at the council meeting last Friday.

The upcoming move is set for spring 2025, when the Town’s administrative staff will be relocated to the Town Operations Centre at 3501-70 Avenue on the northwest side of town. This transition is expected to enhance the Town’s operational efficiency and support long-term growth while benefiting local businesses.

The Town aims to reduce costs and streamline customer service by moving administration to the newer facility. The Operations Centre currently accommodates Operations and Parks and Recreation staff.

"This move is part of a long-term plan to reduce administrative costs, improve efficiency in our core operations, and enable long-term plans for other Town facilities," said CAO Brent Williams.

He added that the relocation will allow Westview Co-op to maintain its head office in Olds, contributing to local employment and economic growth. Renovations will be necessary to adapt the Operations Centre for the administration's relocation.

Five construction companies were pre-qualified for the renovation project earlier in 2024, and the Request for Proposals (RFP) is set to close in mid-November.

Mayor Judy Dahl expressed enthusiasm about the move, stating, "We are excited to centralize the core functions in the newer building. Combining two underutilized spaces ensures responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars and makes it more convenient for the people of Olds to access Town services."

Further updates will be provided once the RFP process is completed.
