A current Chinook School Board trustee is hoping to hold onto his seat for another term and continue to work towards a more sustainable and effective school system.

Swift Current's Ken Duncalfe has been successfully self-employed for over 25 years, giving him the freedom and flexibility to stay heavily invested in the school board's affairs.

He noted that his priority is putting the students first, focusing on how education can be improved, and utilizing funding in a responsible way.

"I just feel like there's more I want to get done," shared Duncalfe. "You really have to be engaged in what's going on because when you go into that board room there's decisions that you have to make that affect people's lives."

The father of three children noted that all of his kids made their way through Chinook School Division and his youngest is set to graduate this coming spring.

"I give Chinook and all of our trustees a lot of credit from last term," said Duncalfe. "Chinook came up in the legislative building just because of the amount of noise that we were making,

"We really had some issues out here as far as shortfalls and we felt as a board that we really needed to get out into the public and talk about it."

If re-elected, the local entrepreneur hopes to continue working alongside fellow trustees toward a more balanced budget that meets the needs of students.
