Athletes of the Cochrane Endurance Project (CEPR) earned a record five medals and U14 girls team gold at the Athletics Alberta cross-country provincials at Echo Dale Regional Park in Dunmore (Medicine Hat) on Nov 2.

Head coach Travis Cummings says the club had some outstanding results with several of their athletes looking to secure spots on Team Alberta in nationals later this month.

"Overall, everyone raced really well," says Cummings. "It was a beautiful day, it was a good course, and it was a highly successful day.

"We had three provincial champions, and that's never happened before in team history," says Cummings. "Five individual medals, 12 athletes, a team gold, so most of our kids came home with a medal."

Kayley Torrie followed up her ASAA U18 gold with another tape-to-tape win and her fraternal twin brother Eli won bronze in U18 boys. Eddie Macmillan claimed his first provincial gold in U16 boys in dominating fashion, and Ellie Barlow won silver in U20 girls.

Abbey Torrie won gold to anchor the U14 girls team win with teammates Jillian Roberts, Anaya Bruce, and fresh recruit Kiera Lawson. They squeezed out CALTAF for first by scoring 16 to their 20 (the lower the point count, the higher the finish in cross-country). Roberts placed fifth, Lawson seventh in her first ever club race, and Bruce sealed their victory with a 17th place finish.

Raimo Sollitt followed up his solid fourth place finish at ASAA high school provincials with a fifth-place finish in U18, Ryden Bruce finished a strong 11th in U16 boys, and Zoelia Labonte was a solid 11th place finisher in U18 girls. Rose Fraser was the lone CEPR athlete in U16 girls and was seventh in a highly competitive field.
