A call to RCMP allowed officers to take an impaired driver off the highway last week.
At around 7:30 p.m. on October 28, Portage la Prairie RCMP received a call of a possible impaired driver that just pulled over on Angle Road and the bypass around Portage la Prairie.
Police attended and located a 48-year-old woman from Winnipeg asleep at the wheel of the suspect vehicle.
Police could see an open container of alcohol sitting next to the driver.
Police woke the driver and asked her to provide a breath sample on a Roadside Screening Device. The results were a fail.
The driver was issued an Immediate Roadside Driving Prohibition. She has lost her licence for 90 days, the vehicle she was driving was towed and impounded for a minimum of 30 days. She will also need to pay an Administration Penalty of $700.00.
RCMP would like to remind the public to report possible impaired drivers.
