A five-month investigation led by the RCMP Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit (SAD CRU) culminated in the arrest of 25-year-old Joshua Elliot Moose of Medicine Hat after an alleged cross-provincial spree targeting Tim Hortons locations, including in Rocky View County.

The investigation began after a wave of break-and-enter incidents between June and October of 2024 were reported at twelve Tim Hortons locations across Alberta, including in Brooks, High River, Hanna, Vermilion, Rocky Mountain House, Strathmore, Drayton Valley, Didsbury, Stettler, two locations in Wetaskiwin, and Rocky View County.

"There were also five Saskatchewan locations, including Maple Creek, Kindersley, Swift Current, Saskatoon, and Indian Head, which fell victim to these crimes. Through the investigation, RCMP learned Moose was in White City, Saskatchewan. On October 31, after committing a break, Moose was arrested outside a hotel in White City," Mounties stated in a press release.

A search warrant was executed on Moose’s hotel room, vehicle, and apartment in Medicine Hat, which resulted in the seizure of a quantity of cash, tools, and firearms.

Moose faces 38 charges: seven in Saskatchewan for break-and-enter to commit theft and possession of break-in tools and 31 in Alberta, which include break-and-enter to commit theft, possession of break-in tools, and unsafe storage of a firearm.

Moose remains in custody and will appear at the Saskatchewan Court of Justice in Regina tomorrow.

RCMP extended their thanks to the Medicine Hat Police Service, Indian Head RCMP, White Butte RCMP, RCMP Regina General Investigation Section (GIS), and members of the Saskatchewan RCMP Police Service Dog Unit, all of whom played key roles in the investigation and arrest.
