Eastend's Jace Egland has signed with the Regina Pats a mere five days after trading for him.

The Swift Current Home Hardware U18 AAA Legionnaires captain put pen to paper this morning on a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement with the Pats.

"We are very pleased that Jace and his family have committed to the Pats and the WHL," Regina Pats VP, Hockey Operations and GM Alan Millar said. "Jace has had a tremendous start to his U-18 season, and we are excited to add him to our group of good, young players. Jace has good hockey sense, plays a complete game, has offensive upside in his game, and was also captain of his team."

Egland was selected by the Winnipeg Ice (now Wenatchee Wild) in the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft during the sixth round but has been unable to crack their roster. He was traded on October 31 to Regina for a 2026 eighth-round pick.

"It's one of the best feelings ever," he told Country 94.1 on November 1. "For them to give me a chance again, it's been two or three years since drafted in my bantam year. It's a whole other feeling from getting drafted, it's all over again, it's amazing."

The 17-year-old forward is off to a torrid start at the Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League averaging 2.89 points per game while leading the league in points with 26 and goals with 14.

"I've really connected with Carter (Moen) and Trae (Peterson)," he said. "Beautiful teammates and players."
