The Swift Current Home Hardware U18 AAA Legionnaires offence came alive early Tuesday night powering them past the visiting Notre Dame Hounds with ease.
Five goals in the opening frame for Swift Current helped them to cruise to a 7-3 victory at the InnovationPlex over the Hounds. Gull Lake's Sam Kirwan led the way for the Legionnaires in the win scoring a goal and adding two assists.
Swift Current allowed the first goal of the game about seven minutes in on a Hounds' power play before the scoring spree began. Kirwan returned fire on a Legionnaires' power play of their own, followed by Finn Gustafson scoring 13 seconds later, and Carter Moen joining the party 29 seconds after with another goal making it 3-1.
The Legionnaires weren't done there, as Shaunavon's Mason Fauser and Central Butte's Hunter Wilm also tacked on goals in the first period pushing the score to 5-1.
Notre Dame answered back with another power-play goal in the second period but Wilm scored his second of the game with four seconds left in the second period staking Swift Current to a four-goal lead again.
Hounds forward Ryken Arran made it a 6-3 game about midway through third period. Before Legionnaires forward Jackson Fox closed out the game's scoring with 42 seconds left.
Gull Lake's Cade Mitchell picked up his fifth win of the season making 28 saves for the Legionnaires.
