The Fixes' "Not-so-Spooky Haunted House" not only helped spread the Halloween spirit once again this year but also made a significant donation to the Airdrie Food Bank.
For the past few years, Clifford and Tanya Fix the creators and owners of the haunted house have been sharing their love for Halloween with Airdrie by creating the walk-through event. While entry is free, they do ask if possible to bring food items or funds that will be donated to the food bank.
This year, they set a personnel record in how much they collected and were able to donate. $1455.40 and 1,290 pounds of food was donated. Last year, they were able to fundraise $917 and 1040 pounds of groceries for the food bank.
"We grew from last year, which is incredible. The community came out and was phenomenal in their support."
The theme this year was "out of this world", according to Fix, they have had several people reach out already asking how they could help next year.
Over 12 days, the haunted house had 2577 attendees walk through, 1236 alone on Halloween.
"Airdrie is such an amazing community, we had a few extra blessings that came out of it as well."
Fix went on to explain that she had a coordinator from a special care facility reach out and ask for a matinee for some of her special needs seniors, and they did just that.
"We had 20 special needs folks come through, have fun, share some of the spirit of the season, and it was delightful."
After hosting the matinee, the Fixes' agreed that they would do a matinee from here on out for those with special needs for both their Halloween and Christmas events.
This year they are also doing a "Christmas I Spy Event" walkthrough, it will be the third time they are holding the event. Last year, it raised $1,113.25 and 680 pounds of food. Fix mentioned they are figuring out the details, and as soon as they are figured out, they will let the public know.
Fix concluded by thanking everybody who visited the haunted house made the event possible and donated.
