Field work is pretty much complete in Manitoba and it is the time of year when plans are starting for 2025. Over the next several months, many big events will be held from conferences to trade shows and more. Some of these events focus on woman and all they bring to the industry.
The Manitoba Farm Women’s Conference, an annual highlight for women involved in agriculture, is set to take place from November 18th to 20th in Winnipeg. Co-chair Doris Doelger is a co-chair and speaks passionately about the events, admitting her current job came as a result of a past conference.
This year, Doelger is promising an enriching mix of networking, learning, and fun.
“We have brought back some of the popular tours and added new ones,” Doelger explained, noting stops that include MacDon Industries, Capital K Distillery, and the Royal Aviation Museum. Some attendees will also visit Peak of the Market and Imperial Seeds, ensuring that participants gain valuable insights into various agricultural operations.
The conference will begin with an exciting and casual event featuring a poutine bar to welcome attendees.
“We like to kick it off with a little bit of fun. People leave the event knowing they've met some great people who are in the same situation as they are and they've hopefully gained some valuable insight about the industry as well."
The goal of the first night is to create an atmosphere that will set the tone for the three-day gathering which Doelger hopes will create a sense of community along with light-hearted enjoyment balanced with deeper professional benefits.
Among the standout elements for 2024 is the return of live entertainment at Tuesday’s banquet with the idea to foster even more camaraderie among attendees. Reflecting on the conference’s longstanding tradition, Doelger emphasized its core mission: building and nurturing a network for women in agriculture.
“Networking is super important. It serves as a testament to the power of these connections, offering a space where women can share experiences, foster professional relationships, and step away from their demanding routines.
Over the years, attendees have echoed similar sentiments about the value of attending. For many, it’s not just a professional opportunity but a rare chance to pause, recharge, and bond with like-minded peers.
