After three days, the Western All-Star Showcase has wrapped up in Warman.
The three-day event saw a roster of 20 players from the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) compete against the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) in a pair of exhibition games as a part of a selection camp to determine 20 spots for the Canada West team training camp for the World Junior A Challenge.
Three players from the Humboldt Broncos were named to the SJHL team, Jacob Strizzi, Conner Miller and Oakley McIlwain.
In a reversal of roles, Broncos assistant coach Carter Hansen was the head coach for the SJHL team, while Broncos head coach Brayden Klimosko was the assistant coach. Humboldt’s Tyrol “Skip” Deeg was the trainer for the SJHL team.
On Tuesday night, the SJHL was defeated by the MJHL 4-2. Miller had a one of the goals for Team SJHL.
The Showcase concluded with a second game on Wednesday, with the SJHL rebounded with a 2-0 victory.
Regular season action in the SJHL resumes on Friday, the Humboldt Broncos are on the road with a pair of games, Saturday in Melville and Sunday in Kindersley.
