Bread We Break is a bi-monthly worship night geared towards young adults in Manitoba. In the midst of its 13th season, the ministry is about to make a big change.
"We're going off to Calvary Temple. Grant [Memorial Church] has been phenomenal in opening their space. We are super grateful, but the reality is that we are physically outgrowing the space, which is an amazing problem to have," Abi Voth, director of Bread We Break says.
"I remember the last event I looked out, and even like the wings and the balcony were beginning to be full. And I was like, 'Ok Lord, we're going to need a bigger space soon,' which is such a cool problem to have."
While the move is to accommodate the growth of the ministry, Voth says that it was a decision that the team brought to God in prayer. "We felt compelled by the Lord to move to Calvary Temple. It's kind of in the heart of the city. There's so much history, we've made amazing connections with the pastoral team there. Just beautiful and humble and they are really excited about about hosting us and so excited about the partnership that's going to come."
The mission behind Bread We Break is "To lift high the name of Jesus in worship, remember Him constantly in communion, and unite His church in fellowship."
While the location of Bread We Break is changing, Voth says that people who come can expect, "A whole lot of people worshipping through musical worship. We also have communion together and we practice open communion. It's not a specific church or denomination, but if you are a follower of Jesus, then we invite you to participate. We spend a lot of time praying and lifting up the name of Jesus."
As far as what Voth is looking forward to the most, she says, "Just to see people worship. It's invigorating to be on stage and look out over a sea of young people, pouring their hearts out to the Lord. There are people hungry for the Gospel and truth."
The next Bread We Break is at Calvary Temple, 400 Hargrave Street on Sunday, November 24 at 7 p.m.
