The Okotoks Dawgs are proud to announce three key players returning to the roster for the 2025 WCBL season.
Fan favourite and Dawgs Golden Glove winner from last season, Ricky Sanchez will be returning for his fourth season with the Dawgs. Sanchez helped lift Okotoks over Lethbridge in the first round with a walk-off bunt at the bottom of the 13th inning in a pivotal game three. He played in 28 games during the regular season, and got 24 runs, 33 hits, six doubles, 15 RBIs, 26 walks, and a home run.
Rookie sensation, and winner of the Dawgs Pitcher of the Year, Ashton Luera has committed to another season at Seaman Stadium. Luera was a stud on the mound and quickly became Okotoks' go-to guy to close out games. The pitcher from Albuquerque, New Mexico came away with a 1.48 ERA, six saves, 47 strikeouts, and only allowed four runs to get past him in 24.1 innings pitched. In the playoffs, it was more of the same, with 10 innings pitched, Luera added 18 strikeouts while on the mound and only allowed six hits.
Last, but certainly not least, Hometown Hero and the man who helped finish off the three-peat with a walk-off home run, Connor "Crow Show" Crowson will be making his return for his fifth season with the Dawgs. Crowson came away with both the MVP of the playoffs and was named the Dawgs MVP in the regular season. He showcased his power this season with nine home runs, the most he had in seasons previous was three. The Crow Show was displayed for 46 games last season with 45 runs, 67 hits, 14 doubles, a triple, 26 walks, and 55 RBIs.
With the three big-time players returning to the squad, the potential for four WCBL championships in a row is off in the right direction.
