The Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign is returning next week, November 18-24, this time with a holiday cookie.

Once again, this year, 50 percent of the money raised will go to the Airdrie Food Bank, while the other 50 percent will go to Tim Horton’s Foundation Camps.

Christine Taylor, Marketing Communication Manager for the Airdrie Food Bank is excited for this initiative to be back once again.

"We are very excited to be chosen again as the charity to accept the holiday smile cookie donations."

Last year, the Airdrie Food Bank received a total of $16,797.58. Taylor hopes that number will grow this year.

"last year was so exciting for it to be the first year, so we're hoping that every year we'll be able to celebrate this with our community, and it will be even bigger."

All of Airdrie's Tim Hortons, the one on the QEII north of the city and the one in CrossIron will be selling the cookies, this time around they also have the option of pre-ordering the cookies, which can be done HERE.

Taylor went on to talk about how many Airdronians are accessing the food bank this time of year.

"We continue to feed over 700 families a week, we are purchasing more and more of our food, and we'll be looking at purchasing food for our holiday hampers."

Over Halloween, the Airdrie Food Bank has received significant donations from organizations around Airdrie, but more is always needed.

The campaign which ran from April 29 through to May 5 generated $62,024.02. There were over 152 shifts of volunteers decorating cookies for about half an hour per shift.
