One person in unstable condition following fire in River Park South

A fire late Thursday afternoon in River Park South sent one person to hospital with serious injuries. 

The fire broke out just after 4:30 p.m. in a three-storey residential building in the 100 block of Regis Drive. 

Smoke was pouring out of the building when crews arrived at the scene. Firefighters began battling the fire from within the building, declaring it under control 20 minutes later. 

Residents were able to safely self-evacuate before crews arrived. However, one person was transported to hospital in unstable condition.

Most residents were able to return to their suites when crews completed their work. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
