Calgary is set to host the 113th edition of the Grey Cup in 2026, bringing the championship game back to the city for a highly anticipated showdown at McMahon Stadium on Sunday, November 15, 2026.

CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrosie couldn’t hide his excitement about the Grey Cup’s return to Calgary, saying, “We’re beyond thrilled to bring the Grey Cup back to Calgary in 2026. We were blown away by the Stampeders’ bid and we look forward to seeing their incredible vision transformed into reality.”

The Stampeders’ president, Jay McNeil, also shared his enthusiasm, thanking the CFL, its Board of Governors, and Commissioner Ambrosie for the opportunity to host the prestigious event. He extended gratitude to partners including the City of Calgary, the Province of Alberta, and Tourism Calgary for their support. “Calgary has a longstanding tradition of hosting world-class events, and we know the city will rise to the occasion in 2026,” McNeil said.

Tourism Calgary CEO Alisha Reynolds highlighted the economic impact of the event, estimating that the Grey Cup will bring over $50 million to the local economy, benefiting hotels, restaurants, and retailers across the city. She also emphasized the Grey Cup’s role in showcasing Calgary’s hospitality and passion for Canadian football.

This will be the sixth time Calgary has hosted the Grey Cup, with previous games held at McMahon Stadium in 1975, 1993, 2000, 2009, and 2019. The Grey Cup will be part of a week-long festival, featuring activities for all ages, parties, and top-tier entertainment.

The Calgary Stampeders, founded in 1945, are a key part of the city’s sporting community. The team has won the Grey Cup eight times and made 17 appearances in the championship game. The Stampeders are known for their community involvement, particularly in amateur football and health and wellness programs.

Tourism Calgary works to bring large events to the city to boost visitation. In 2023, the organization helped host more than 170 meetings and events, contributing $227 million to the local economy. With 8.4 million visitors to the city in 2023, the economic impact of events like the Grey Cup is significant for Calgary.
