With plenty of rest this week, the Humboldt Broncos will embark on a busy weekend with a pair of games on the road.
Saturday night will see the Broncos venture to Melville to tangle with the Millionaires. This will be a rematch from last Saturday’s contest where Humboldt beat Melville 6-3. Defenceman Tre Fouquette had four points (1G-3A) and forward Marik Mamic chipped in with three points (2G-1A).
Following Saturday’s win, Assistant Coach Carter Hansen said that he was pleased with the Broncos effort in the win and hopes to see it on a more consistent basis.
“I think we’re making steps in the right direction, now we just got to start doing it every night because that Bronco team is not fun to play against when they’re playing like that.”
The Broncos and Millionaires will meet for the second time of the season on Saturday, with the third encounter set for Friday in Humboldt. The fourth and final matchup will be back in Melville, in March.
After a trip out east, the Broncos will load the bus back up on Sunday and west for matchup against the Kindersley Klippers. The two teams are part of a logjam in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) standings with the top eight teams separated by six points heading into this weekend’s action.
Sunday will be the third time the Nutrien Division rivals will square off in the 2024-25 regular season. During the first weekend of October, the teams split a home-and-home set.
Both games can be heard on Bolt FM/Discover Humboldt, with Saturday’s game beginning with pre-game coverage at 6:45 and then Sunday in Kindersley, it will begin at 5:45.
