The High River Flyers started their HJHL weekend games early with a Thursday night (Nov. 7) tilt in their first of back-to-back home games against the Cannex Cochrane Generals.

Kashton Payne got the start in net for the Flyers on Thursday, making 52 stops in the contest. The 6'4 goaltender kept his team in the game by making an abundance of saves along with key saves, but the Generals found a way to take the win in overtime with a 3-2 score.

Aidan Schopf opened the scoring in the game with his fourth goal of the season, with Ryan Terpstra and Lucas Gough adding the helpers. The 1-0 Flyers lead wouldn't hold on for long as the Generals got on the board less than 30 seconds later with a goal from Alexander Devnich.

Tonight (No. 8), the Flyers hosted a Veterans Appreciation Night at the Bob Snodgrass Recreational Complex (BSRC) but came out on the wrong side of a 4-2 hockey game.

Kaiden Fulton was called upon to be the starter for the second of back-to-backs. He would make 30 saves on 33 shots in the loss.

This time, it was the Generals opening up the scoring with a goal coming from Evan Sine. Cochrane's one-goal lead would only hold for less than five minutes as Tiernan Rowen found twine with help from Owen Grant. The first-period marker would be Rowen's second goal of the 2024-2025 HJHL regular season.
