A mid-week opportunity to renew a WHL rivalry.
The Swift Current Broncos and Moose Jaw Warriors start a home-and-home tonight in Moose Jaw.
"They always play us had," said Broncos assistant coach Regan Darby. "The focus is just playing divisional games and making sure we can pull out a few points here."
Swift Current is 11-6 on the season and have won seven of their last eight games. That includes a 6-5 overtime win over the Warriors on October 19th.
Moose Jaw has struggled this season after winning the WHL Championship in 2023-24. They're 4-13-2-0.
“Sometimes we struggle with getting into the game early and with Swift, it’s usually not too hard,” Warriors forward Rilen Kovacevic said. “It will be nice to play them back-to-back and get things going right away.”
Warriors head coach Mark O’Leary talked about the Broncos on DiscoverMooseJaw.
“They do a real good job of generating offense, but it’s a lot of the same things that we’ve seen from them in the past, they do have a fast transition off the rush and when they’re at their best, they do a real good job of getting behind the defence,” he said.
“It’s going to be important for us that we keep everything in front of us and again, limiting those opportunities for fast transitions and making sure that we have numbers above the puck.”
The teams meet again tomorrow night back at the InnovationPlex in Swift Current.
You can hear tonight's game on Country 94.1 FM with Redhead Equipment Case IH Broncos Hockey at 6:45pm.
