Today is election day within the Horizon School Division to select trustees for its board.
There are two candidates running in Subdivision 9, which includes communities like Raymore and Punnichy.
Murray Proznick and Cheryl Norleen are vying to represent Subdivision 9 as its trustee.
Proznick is a native of Wishart, who is currently employed at Evraz North America in Regina. He has previously served for two terms on the Horizon School Division Board.
Along with his experience with the school board, Proznick has held other positions directly connected with education including being a school bus driver for the Horizon School Division and a member of the School Community Council since its inception. He has also served several local, provincial and international boards and committees.
In his candidate statement, Proznick said he would provide leadership, accountability and stewardship of resources.
He added that his focus will be to ensure the best possible education while respecting the dignity and well-being of the students and families he would serve.
The other candidate running in Subdivision 9 is Cheryl Norleen. She has lived in Raymore since 2007 to work with Raymore New Holland. After marrying her husband in 2010, they began to build their family farm south of Raymore.
Together they own and operate 4G Land & Livestock, specializing in grain production, cattle, and commercial organic egg layers.
With her five children currently attending the Raymore Public School system, Norleen has developed an interest in education and the impact it has in the community.
