Southwest program for troubled male youth, Rock Solid Refuge, is heading to Swift Current today to give out hot chocolate as a part of World Kindness Day.
Rock Solid Refuge, located near the Town of Shaunavon, will have students and staff set up at four locations around the City this afternoon with free hot chocolate and candy canes.
Dallas Block, executive director at Rock Solid Refuge, noted that the values of World Kindness Day are well aligned with the organization's principles, providing an excellent opportunity to spread some positivity.
"Today is known as World Kindness Day and we're just going to be an active participant in that," he shared. "Our core principles are to work towards maturity, responsibility, and charity,
"It's giving our students an opportunity to very practically put into practice the principles we encourage for their growth."
The hot chocolate, which was donated by the downtown Tim Horton's in Swift Current, will be available at Walmart, Pharmasave, Canadian Tire, and the East entrance of the Swift Current Mall from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
"We would love for people to stop by and chat with us where we're handing out hot chocolate," Block added. "It's just a great opportunity to bless some people in Swift Current."
The faith-based 12-month residential program is geared towards boys ages 13 to 18 who are struggling with issues such as addiction, substance abuse, and behavioural problems.
