It has been announced that the trial for five former World Junior Canadian hockey players will begin on April 22, 2025.
The highly publicized case involves former local hockey player Dillon Dubé, who played with the U15 AAA Airdrie Xtreme in the past, Cal Foote, Carter Hart, Alex Formenton, and Michael McLeod.
The men are charged with sexual assault after allegations from a female victim stemming from an incident in a London, Ontario, hotel room which occurred in June 2018. McLeod, however, is being charged with two counts of sexual assault, including one relating to aiding someone else in the offence.
Dubé reportedly plays for Dinamo Minsk in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). The Calgary Flames selected him 56th overall in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
The jury trial is set to begin in London, Ontario, and is expected to last eight weeks. It will start right after the jury selection, with the next pre-trial motions scheduled for late November this year.
