A 51-year-old from Winnipeg has been arrested and charged for sexual assault of a youth following a year-long investigation.
In November 2023, a sexual exploitation investigation was launched after a youth came forward and reported being assaulted while incarcerated at a youth custody facility in Manitoba.
Between 2022 and 2023, the survivor was in custody and had a relationship with a juvenile counsellor. The youth was provided with extra canteen items and in exchange was assaulted.
On November 12, 2024, a 51-year-old male from Winnipeg was charged with Sexual Assault, Sexual Exploitation, and Obtaining Sexual Services from a Person Under 18 years of age.
He has been released with conditions prohibiting access to anyone under 18, as directed by the Criminal Code.
