Weyburn’s beloved “River Park Sparkles” event returns this December, transforming River Park into a dazzling holiday spectacle for the sixth consecutive year. Organized by Weyburn Tourism, the event invites visitors to enjoy a winter wonderland of festive displays and community cheer.
“This year, River Park Sparkles kicks off on December 2nd at dusk and runs through January 5th,” said Monica Osborne, Executive Director of Weyburn Tourism. “It’s a family-friendly event and free to the public. People can drive through or walk, though we encourage pedestrians to be cautious of vehicles.”
The event welcomes participation from businesses, organizations, and individuals to decorate campsites in River Park. “We still have spots available, and it’s free to participate,” noted Osborne, who shared that a refundable damage deposit is required to reserve a site. Visitors can expect to see an array of creative displays, from lights and traditional setups to intricate scenes crafted by local businesses. “Every year, I’m blown away by the creativity our community brings to this event,” said Osborne. “You’ll see everything from nativity scenes to handmade wooden snowmen—it’s amazing.”
River Park Sparkles will be open every evening, including Christmas Day, with lights coming on at dusk and turning off around midnight. Osborne encouraged residents to visit multiple times and bring out-of-town friends to experience the holiday spirit Weyburn has to offer.
