Decker Mujcin has made the trip from Prince George, British Columbia to Portage la Prairie at least twice, as he joined the Terriers for his second year in the city. His buddy Scott Cousins made the trip to Portage for the first time, and the duo is enjoying getting a chance to play for a team leading the way in the league.

Cousins and Mujcin are childhood friends who met when Mujcin moved from Yellowknife to Prince George when he was around the age of ten. Mujcin shared what brought him back to Portage for another season.

"Last year, I loved it here, and we didn't have the best outing in playoffs, so I think this year means a whole lot more."

Mujcin and Cousins were working out together in the summer, and Decker adds that things started there with seeing Scott join the club.

"We're always chattin', we're pretty close guys, so I kind of threw the option out there to him, and he thought about it, and eventually it just worked out."

Cousins notes that his decision wasn't a particularly hard one.

"It didn't take too much work, honestly. I find with good organizations in junior hockey, you can kind of find your way to them. (I was) talking to Decks throughout the summer obviously, and then I sent a text to Spills, and then we were off and running from there."

Cousins admits the start to his Terriers career was a little rocky to start, but things have started to turn around.

"I love it here, but it's been a little tricky to start, I had a little bit of an injury I was facing off the jump, but we've healed up nicely since then and got rolling. 11-0, so that's a great thing, and it's been pretty smooth sailing so far."

Both players have stepped into leadership roles this season, with Mujcin helping lead to charge offensively, scoring 13 goals in the team's first 20 games, while playing in 18. Cousins has chipped in 7 points in 8 games, as well.

Now with a trip on the way to visit the Northern Manitoba Blizzard, Cousins and Mujcin both believe the two-game set is a chance to prove how far the team has come since their first matchup this year.

Cousins led off by saying, "The Pas will be a nice test for us. Obviously, 11-0 is great and all, but we want to keep that train rolling for as long as we can, so it'll be a great test."

Mujcin adds that these games will be two of the toughest so far this season.

Puck drop will be at 7 p.m. both Friday and Saturday night, with both games broadcast on CFRY.
