There are plenty of changes to Humboldt’s City Council following Wednesday night’s municipal election.
Roger Korte was reelected for a second term as councillor, joining Larry Jorgenson as the two councillors who will serve for another four years.
Korte finished in a tie for fourth spot in the election for council alongside Dave Rowe, and he pointed out that every vote counted.
“It’s important to vote, because everyone can see its tight and it was a close race and good race run by everybody.”
After serving on council for the last four years, Korte says there are several important issues facing Humboldt that he would like to see addressed over the next term.
Among them is development in the north side of the city to help handle the growth that Humboldt is expecting soon.
He added that infrastructure is an ongoing issue for all communities like Humboldt.
“We have old water and sewer lines underground and that’s not going to come to an end.”
New facilities including a villa, an additional ice surface and theatre are some of the other important items facing the new city council in Humboldt.
Following the results of the municipal election, there will be four new councillors in Humboldt. Korte is eager about working with the new city council.
“It’s a good variety once again on council, it’s going to be good to have some fresh blood and some new ideas moving forward and I think everyone is going to work well together and hopefully come up with some great things for Humboldt.”
Korte also extended gratitude to all the candidates that put their name forward.
“It’s important, I think for your community to grow and to make it the best place for people to live, congratulations to everyone, let’s have a great four years for Humboldt.”
