The push for more funding continues on the Chinook School Division Board.
Dianne Hahn returns for a third term as a Swift Current trustee on the board. She is continuing her focus on bringing their provincial funding in line with their needs.
"I really think that we need to advocate for sufficient funding," Hahn said. "There just needs to be fair and equitable funding. The other thing is I just really believe that every school needs to be a safe and welcoming environment for every student."
Hahn was busy as the returning officer for the RM of Excelsior No 166 and didn't have a lot of time to worry about her own results.
"In the back of my mind, of course, you're wondering what the results are," she noted. "You're kind of sitting on pins and needles at the same time.
"I'm really humbled and honored to have received sufficient votes to be elected to the school board again, and I don't take that lightly, but it's very serious to me and I'm really looking forward to getting going with the new board. Those and the old ones that are returning as well and just really looking forward to the next four years and doing what we can to advance education and for the betterment of the students and their families."
Starting a third term means there is a certainly much less of a learning curve.
"I think that's definitely an advantage," Hahn said. "There's a lot of things to learn and even after eight years, I feel like I'm still learning. I do think that there's an advantage to have a lot of that history and some of the knowledge about the things that have been going on over the last few years."
