It will be an exciting weekend for the Humboldt Broncos and their fanbase.

The Broncos will be home at the Elgar Petersen Arena for a pair of games, on Friday night they will host the Melville Millionaires. Humboldt and Melville have become well acquainted recently as Friday’s matchup will mark the third time the two teams will meet over the last two weeks. Humboldt has picked up victories in both encounters, a 6-3 win on home ice on Nov.2 and a 3-2 shootout victory in Melville on Nov. 9.

Saturday night will mark the first matchup between the Broncos and the Nipawin Hawks. So far this season, Nipawin is 2-12-1.

This weekend also marks the Broncos annual player auction/skills competition weekend.

After Friday night’s game, fans can head to the lobby for the auction for Saturday’s shootout. The voice of the Broncos Rory McGouran will be the auctioneer, as fans will have the chance to bid on the players and coaching staff.

Broncos President Amanda Schlachter said the club raised over $30,000.

Following Saturday’s game, fans are welcome to stick around and watch the shootout and skills competition.

Another important event for the Broncos this weekend is their family weekend. On Friday night’s game against the Millionaires will recognize the parents and billets of the players.

Typically, the auction/skills competition is held in February, but with the Broncos holding their alumni game this year, Schlachter said the team decided to hold auction/shootout event as the same weekend as the family weekend, to give the parents a firsthand look at the entertaining event.

Heading into the weekend, the Broncos are tied for top spot in the Nutrien Division with the Battlefords North Stars at 21 points, with the Kindersley Klippers trailing by one point. All three teams have played 17 games so far in the 2024-25 regular season.
