The resident who started the group shared with DiscoverAirdrie that she created it a few years ago while planning special holiday outings for her children. Inspired by Calgary’s "Light Up Calgary," she wanted to showcase Airdrie’s holiday spirit.

What began with just 10-20 addresses has now grown to 40-50, with the list expanding yearly. The page has gained popularity, spreading holiday cheer and preserving the festive spirit throughout the community. She said that the Christmas spirit holds a special place in her heart, and she is grateful to see it alive and shared in Airdrie year after year.

Like Airdrie’s growing festive spirit, Mountain View Coulso invites residents to share their holiday light displays through its annual Show Us Your Lights tour. Those interested in being featured on the Self-Guided Holiday Lights Tour Map are encouraged to submit their locations to the county.

Participants are also asked to include special instructions, such as event hours, walk-through availability, or unique activities scheduled for specific dates. The tour offers a fun and festive way for the community to enjoy the holiday season and share in the local spirit.

The holiday season kicks off December 1 in Airdrie with two major traditions: the annual Sirens charity hockey game at the Ron Ebbesen Twin Arena, featuring a match between firefighters and Mounties, and the 29th season of the Airdrie Festival of Lights, which begins with a tree lighting ceremony at Nose Creek Park.

Other highlights include the annual Santa Claus Parade on December 7 and the return of the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Holiday Train on December 13, which brings live music and holiday cheer to Nose Creek Park.
