A 29-year-old man from Cremona has been charged with two counts of attempted murder following a violent altercation at a residence early Monday morning.

At approximately 2:37 a.m. on November 18, Didsbury RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance at a home in Cremona. The complainant, who was in Calgary at the time, informed police that a male was attacking two other occupants in the residence.

Upon arrival, officers found two individuals—an 86-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman—seriously injured and in medical distress. RCMP quickly located the suspect in the home's basement after searching. Following a brief confrontation with the officer, the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

The officers provided first aid to the victims until EMS arrived. Both individuals were transported to a hospital in Calgary, where they are being treated for severe injuries. Despite their critical condition, the victims are expected to survive.

The suspect, identified as Montana Ronquist, a resident of Cremona, was charged with two counts of attempted murder. After a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Ronquist was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Calgary on Wednesday.

RCMP continue to investigate the incident, and anyone with further information is encouraged to contact the Didsbury detachment.
