Southwestern Saskatchewan missed out on some heavy snowfall totals from yesterday's storm.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, the region collected trace amounts to just over 5 centimetres which pales in comparison to the central and south-central parts of Saskatchewan.

Environment and Climate Change Canada meteorologist Danielle Desjardins said snowfall amounts peaked in the Melfort and Humboldt area with roughly 40 centimetres.

"We have an estimate map, keep in mind this is cursory data, Swift Current looks to be on the higher end for the southwest," she said. "Along the Alberta border, there's next to nothing but Swift Current is on that western edge of that accumulating snowfall and then the snowfall amounts increase as you head northeast."

Saskatoon and Regina were in the middle ground for snowfall, between Swift Current and Melfort, collecting about 20 centimetres.

"It was blowing around pretty well yesterday so some of the snowfall amounts are hard to track down because we get the drifting," she said.

More snowfall is forecasted for the southwest over the next few days. Tomorrow the area could see traces amounts to a few centimetres with anywhere from five to 15 centimetres Friday night into Saturday.
