Crews from the City of Weyburn continued their snow removal operations and moved into the downtown core in the early morning hours. Work is expected to continue for the coming days as they deal with the snow, and the drifts the wind caused, that is on the streets of Weyburn.

The downtown core is one of the secondary priority routes that they will tackle for the next few days. Other areas designated as secondary routes include school zones, such as 16th Street by St. Mike's and 5th Street in front of Legacy Park. Once the secondary routes are all cleared, the work will begin on the tertiary routes.

“We are asking, if you’re approaching some snow removal equipment, please respect their work zone by just avoiding the area if possible, and give them space so they can concentrate on the safe operation of their large equipment,” said Weyburn’s Director of Engineering, Rene Cugnet.

Once all the priority routes are cleared, city crews will then be able to start on residential streets following the refuse collection areas. Residents will be given a heads-up through social media as well as the Voyent Alert system to ask that there be no street parking while crews are working in those areas.
