The Blackfalds Bulldogs were on the losing end of a penalty-filled affair Wednesday night in Spruce Grove falling to the Saints 6-4.

Luke Dahlen had a pair of goals for the Bulldogs in the first period to notch the score up at two heading into the second.

The Saints would go up 4-2 midway through the second on goals by Austin Peters and Alexy Lachaine.

Antoine Gauthier made the score 4-3 late in the frame, while Matthew Ronn would tie the game early in the third.

The Saints would get the game-winner at 14:27 of the third on a goal by Ethan Kronewitt. Stephen Kirkpatrick added an insurance goal at 19:19.

Spruce Grove outshot Blackfalds 45-38. The Bulldogs were 0-for-6 on the power play while the Saints finished the night 1-for-3 with the man-advantage.

With the loss, Blackfalds falls to 2-17-0-0 on the season and remain in last place in the BCHL standings.

Next up, the Bulldogs return home on Friday night to take on the league-leading Brooks Bandits. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
