A man wanted by Swift Current Municipal RCMP for multiple assault, robbery, and firearms charges has been arrested.

Nicholas Belanger was brought in by RCMP in Alberta on his outstanding warrant in the west-most prairie province on Nov. 19, 2024.

Since being brought back to Swift Current, the 35-year-old has appeared in Swift Current Provincial Court once already on Wednesday.

Swift Current Municipal RCMP notes that they are still looking to locate Matthew Neufeld. The 28-year-old is described as 5'8" and 145 lbs. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

Neufeld is facing the following charges.

  • one count, robbery with a firearm, Section 344(1)(a), Criminal Code;
  • one count, assault with a weapon, Section 267(a), Criminal Code;
  • one count, careless use of a firearm, Section 86(1), Criminal Code;
  • one count, pointing a firearm, Section 87(1), Criminal Code;
  • one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code;
  • one count, dangerously discharged a firearm, Section 244(1), Criminal Code; and
  • six counts, fail to comply with probation order, Section 733.1(1), Criminal Code

If anyone sees Neaufeld, they should not approach him. Any sightings of Neufeld can be reported to police by calling 310-RCMP.
