Central Albertans will get their fair share of shovelling in over the next couple of days.
Stephen Berg, meteorologist with Environment & Climate Change Canada, says the region could see up to five centimetres by the end of the day Thursday. The snow is expected to continue throughout the afternoon hours with flurries in the forecast for the rest of the day and tonight.
He notes more of the white stuff is on the way for Friday.
"Anywhere from five to fifteen centimetres from about Friday morning until Saturday evening and then that system moves off to the east," Berg explained.
Temperatures are also expected to take a dip this weekend with highs in the minus double digits starting on Friday. The overnight low for Thursday night is around -16. The normal daytime high for this time of year is around minus one. We could the mercury drop down to about - 20 on Sunday night.
We should get some relief by mid-next week with temperatures getting back close to normal.
