The Manitoba Hydro building will be abuzz Thursday evening as hundreds of Winnipeggers participate in the sixth annual Ride Inside stationary bike event.

Over 240 riders will ride inside to raise funds for childhood cancer.

This year's event ambassador is a 2-year-old boy named Javi.

In April 2024, after weeks of feeling unwell, Javi's parents took him to the hospital. After just 24 hours, the toddler was diagnosed with acute lymphotic leukemia, a form of red blood cancer.

For 12 days, Javi was put through multiple tests and scans and started on a two-and-a-half year chemotherapy treatment.

Although he is still undergoing intense treatment, Javi remains positive, asking the staff how they're doing on a regular basis.

Funds raise through Ride Inside will go towards helping children participate in leading-edge clinical trials for childhood cancer.

Since it's inception in 2019, more than $1.5 million has been raised for childhood cancer.
